À bientôt Malibu

Hurley Pants/ Xhiliration Top/ Express Blazer/ Rebecca Minkoff Bag/ Priviliged Heels, via JustFabulous/ House of Harlow Sunglasses
This weekend my fiance and I took a road trip down to Malibu to help my sister move back home to the SF bay area. Since she moved there in 2006 for school at Pepperdine University I've loved visiting her; Malibu is such a pretty little city by the water and neighboring cities are unique and equally fun to explore. There are killer views, great restaurants, and I know that my sister has built a great community of friends there so I can see why she loves it so much. But alas I am so excited to have her back home, especially now that I'm engaged--I know that I will need her there with me through all of my wedding planning.

When we arrived at her place, it was all decked out with balloons, signs, flowers, champagne, blue moon {our favorite!}, and a picture of my fiance and me on her giant tv with Bruno Mars' "Marry You" playing. All of my friends have shown so much love and support and given us the sweetest gifts for our engagement and this gesture really took the cake. I know I said it already, but really, I am SOO excited to have her back home!

Thanks Malibu for taking care of my little sis. Don't worry she'll be back to visit :-)

Whirlwind

Sequin Dress & Pearl Necklace via Poshmark/ Qupid Heels/ Foley & Corrina Bag
In my last post I mentioned how quickly the weekend went by; what I didn't mention is that I've been caught in a whirlwind ever since my boyfriend became my fiancé. Yes that's right, I'm engaged! It all started last Tuesday {Valentine's Day} when I met up with my boyfriend after work. He had 3 dozen long-stemmed roses, chocolate covered strawberries, and bubbly waiting for me :-) I got ready and we headed out to the city for a dinner cruise on the bay; per my usual pace we were I was running late and of course the Pier parking lot was full! I can only imagine what was running through my boyfriend's head as his proposal plans were nearly slipping out of his reach. A nearby clock tower ever so loudly struck 7 and we were officially late. My boyfriend ran ahead of me and yelled to the employees not to leave without us....of course they didn't {thanks Hornblower!} and we made it just in time. We drank champagne, I fawned over the adorable pink napkins & romantic ambiance, and we ate a lovely dinner. My boyfriend suggested we go out on the deck to take in the views and the weather was surprisingly just perfect. We walked up the stairs to the upper deck where we were alone and it became the moment I've dreamed of since I was a little girl. He got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of his life with him! In true 'Kristen' nature I covered my face full of tears and after a good 20 seconds finally remembered that I needed to say 'Yes!'.

It's been over a week now and I still keep staring at my ring and can't believe that I'm not dreaming, this is really happening, I get to marry the guy that I love! Right now we are just enjoying our engagement but I'm excited to start wedding planning and would love advice from all of you experienced brides out there!

Sadly we didn't have a real camera handy on our engagement night but I adored my outfit so I had to recreate it for a photoshoot :-)
Emerald cut with a halo, exactly what I would have picked for myself!
Meet my fiancé Giancarlo!
My dolly niece joined in on the photoshoot fun!

The Shortest Long Weekend

Wet Seal Jacket, via Crossroads/ Mine Top/ Bebe Jeans/ Tiffany & Co. Necklace, via Poshmark/ Spike the Punch Necklace/ Michael Kors Watch/ Rebecca Minkoff Bag/ House of Harlow Sunglasses, c/o Retail Therapy/ Jessica Simpson Boots
This past weekend was my boyfriend's birthday so we planned a trip to South Lake Tahoe and I was so excited to have a four day weekend! I have no idea where the time went! Tahoe was amazing; we won some money at the casinos, relaxed in the hotel room, and partied with a great group of friends :-) How was your President's Day weekend?

Cochon 555

Merona Top/ Greylin Skirt/ Qupid Heels/ Rebecca Minkoff Bag/ Michael Kors Watch/ Forever 21 Jewelry
Sometimes you just happen to be in the right place at the right time and good things happen. I just so happened to log into Twitter when Google SF posted a link to get free VIP tickets to the Cochon 555 event held at the Culinary Institute in St. Helena. I honestly had no idea what Cochon 555 was but since I minored in French I at least understood that it had to do with pigs...and since I am in the top 100 bacon lovers of the world, of course I wanted to go! It was honestly a bit how I imagine my heaven to be. Bounteous amounts of wine, oysters, caviar, and 5 chefs duking it out in a pig cooking challenge (total Food Network status!) even Le Creuset was there hosting a food challenge and BBQing up a storm. All they needed was a wall of shoes & handbags and Justin Timberlake, then it actually would be exactly as I envision my own heaven! I'm sure I gained at least 10 pounds that day as I stuffed my face way past full, but it was totally worth it, plus I came prepared dressed in a super flowy skirt!

The Culinary Institute is seriously breathtaking!
