Friday was a great day! Work was productive but not stressful. My boyfriend got some errands done for me that I have been putting off for weeks. I scored a couple of fabulous deals at my favorite consignment shop. And the weather was amazing, high 80s with a slight breeze :-)

The Best Farmer's Market Around

 I am a huge fan of Farmer's Markets, I love the fruit, I love the fresh veggies, I love the people, I love the baked goods....I love it all! Lucky for me every summer my hometown hosts THE best Farmer's Market around. There's usually live music, there's family night with games for kids and {my favorite & the busiest night} every third Thursday is Thirsty Thursday with wine tasting. The only Farmer's Market I have been to that came close to this caliber was the Malibu Farmer's Market, and the fact that Tori Spelling was there really upped it's coolness factor{in my book!}
Today I saw a stand at the Farmer's Market that I have never seen before; they had Lemon Basil, Cinnamon Basil, Sweet Basil, and other unique varieties of herbs. Immediately I thought of the Strawberry Basil cocktail I had this past weekend, so I bought Cinnamon Basil and Strawberries and then headed to the grocery store for the alcohol. They didn't have all of the ingredients I needed, plus I have been dying to try the Skinnygirl Margarita, so I decided to improvise. The result wasn't as amazing as the real thing so I'll have to do it again with the right ingredients, but it was definitely refreshing on such a warm summer evening!

All year long I can't wait for my favorite part of the year: Summer! Anyone in Northern California knows that our weather this Summer has been all over the place. Finally it seems like the warm weather is here to stay which of course has me absolutely thrilled!...If I only I didn't spend my days freezing from the air conditioning inside of an office cubicle. Today I had an interview for another position in my company {fingers crossed!}. I wanted to look polished and cute whilst keeping an 'I mean business' kind of air. So I paired a blazer with a bright top and black slacks and kept my accessories fairly simple with classic pearls. Of course, after work I loaded up on the bracelets, added a headband, and put on some bold lipstick to bring more fun to my look!

It was Saturday, my boyfriend and I were getting ready to head to Brentwood to visit my sister. I went to put on shoes and realized that I had nothing to go with my red striped top, tan blazer, and white shorts {sorry no pics!}...why didn't I pack my tan and white sandals?? Oh well, black will have to do. Fast forward a couple of hours and I'm making my sister and boyfriend go to Good Will with me (Brentwood is a pretty upscale neighborhood so I figured they had to have some good inventory). A gorgeous leopard print satchel practically screams my name from across the room, score! And then I head to the shoe section and see these adorable wedges gleaming at me. It felt a bit like Cinderella and the Wizard of Oz all wrapped in one. I slipped one on and they fit perfectly. This is what I mean when I say 'it was fashion fate'! And we lived happily ever after :-)

This weekend I decided I wanted to head down to Southern California to visit both my sister and one of my best friends. After a bit of research I booked us a hotel room in Huntington Beach since I'd never been there before and I wanted to be near the beach. My friend took us to one place where we had the perfect summer cocktail, it included strawberries and basil {I'll definitely be trying to recreate that one!} and we went to another place where we were endlessly entertained by the light up dance floor. The only downfall of the night was that the DJ didn't play Britney Spears after he promised me he would {well it seemed like a major downfall at the time}.

 On Thursday evening Shop It To Me hosted a launch party in San Francisco for Jessica Quirk's new book What I Wore: Four Seasons, One Closet, Endless Recipes for Personal Style. I brought two friends along and we had a great time meeting some of San Francisco's fabulous bloggers and enjoyed champagne and mini cupcakes. Of course I left with a copy of What I Wore signed by Jessica herself; she was every bit of lovely I thought she would be and I can't wait to delve into the book!

Growing up I always preferred to wear silver jewelry, but in recent years I've taken a serious liking to all things gold; it always makes me feel more glamorous! So when I saw this blazer {on ideeli.com} with gold mesh hardware on the collar and cuffs I knew I had to add it to my wardrobe or I'd regret it for the rest of my life {possibly a slight exaggeration]. I was bummed when it arrived that I definitely should have ordered a size smaller, but I've learned that you can always make oversized work by using other form fitting pieces in your outfit. So I paired this with jeggings and other gold accents to really play off the detail on the blazer. Yay for Shiny Gold Things!
